Electronics : Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Works when it wants to
Okay, it's great on a certain level... It prints, it scans, looks great. But it rejects the printer cartridges and won't do anything... These are the cartridges that came with it and all of a sudden it "doesn't recognize" them anymore and ceases to do anything. I contacted the Canon support team and all they do is say they'll send me a new cartridge. This means that they don't really care about this problem. And what's really bad is that there's 5 cartridges for it to reject! I don't know if the other canon printers are like this, but I think this feature completely ruins the printer/scanner.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Love it!
I've had my printer for a little over a month now and am extremely pleased with it. I bought it to take to work since we have too many people trying to use one little printer & the bottleneck is ridiculous. I do very little photo printing with it; my main usage is printing out text & text with graphics. It's smooth, quiet & solid. The colors, even in draft mode are better than I've seen in quality mode on my old HP printers. The copy function is very nice; it's quick & the quality is very good.

The footprint on this model is bigger than I would expect to be normal & a it is a tad heavy but neither is an issue for me. This is the second Canon I've purchased & have not been unhappy with either.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - OK, but should have purchased photo-only printer...
Based on research and review this seemed to be the best of the pixma series from Canon. It's a pretty big unit, so measure your space before you get this sucker at home.

It's solid, with easy functionality in Windows XP. The on-unit screen functions well for copies and scans. Paper tray is decent sized, and perpendicular so gravity helps pull paper in (instead of horizontal trays).

Scanner is quick and good quality - the software included is decent and it's just as easy to use the Print/Scan wizard in XP.

I'm not impressed with the print/copy quality. I was expecting better color quality from Canon - my old i960 printed more vibrant on canon glossy paper, so I'm disappointed by this purchase. If you're printing more 4x6 or photos at home go with a photo printer - but if you want a "decent" printer with other features this unit can do it all.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Quality Printer
If you are looking for a GREAT QUALITY photo printer that doesn't go through ink like a baby going through diapers the Canon Pixma MP610 is the one you want. I love this printer. Very solid construction, easy to use, fast printing, and great quality pictures. Did I mention the ink? Since receiving this printer in mid July I have printed at least 120 high quality photos and countless other documents. The yellow, cyan and magenta cartridges are still showing half full and the black cartridges, (one small and one large, not sure why), are doing even better. The small one is still full and the large one is 3/4 full.
I have owned my share of printers...HP, Lexmark, and Brother most recently. The Canon Pixma MP610 is by far my favorite. After having been sorely disappointed in my past printer purchases I did some research at consumer reports and was impressed with the specs on this one. I can highly recommend this printer!
One note...I did not realize until after ordering that this All-In-One printer did not include a fax as my others had. Even though I will now need a separate fax this printer is well worth it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The best!
We have had this printer for a month and my wife says it's THE BEST one we have ever owned. She does photo printing and photo scanning most of the time and it hasn't jammed yet. With the two feeders loaded (one with regular paper and one with photo paper) and a click of the feed switch, she can jump from one job to another in a second. It very easy to operate, quiet and lots of 'how-to' instructions available. Very sleek looking too. We read reviews and studied many printers and finally decided this is the one. We made a good choice for the price and got exactly what we wanted. I would recommend this printer.
