I bought this to convert hundreds of my parent's old 35mm slides to digital format. The quality is great and the software is super easy to use. It comes with a tray that holds 4 35mm slides and it scans them all at once with a single push of a button on the exterior of the scanner. The software automatically saves the slides as individual images. I haven't used it for anything else but the slides but I'd highly recommend it for this type of task.

Unit was a nightmare trying to set up on either a Mac Mini (intel) or MBP. Canon hardware usually excels but operating software and installation on OS X leaves a lot to be desired. Canon needs to let go of their code monkeys who obviously haven't used a mac enough to get it.
Trying to set up the buttons was also an exercise in frustration. Additionally, this scanner is quite large; much bigger than I was imagining so be aware it's going to require a fair amount of flat space.

The ability to can slides, negatives and prints with little difficulty makes this scanner the most useful I have ever owned.
It could be faster but the output quality is more than adequate

I am running this scanner under Windows Vista. Set up was really simple and fast. The scanner does not require a warm up, so scans are very rapid. Color definition is excellent. The included software is very functional and makes operating the scanner a breeze. I have owned HP, Epson, and other Canon scanners and this unit represents the best combination of features, quality, and price! You can't go wrong with this one!

Queen Victoria is being built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, near
Venice, with her keel laid on July 12, 2003. One of the most technically
advanced shipbuilders in the world, Fincantieri has built more than 7,000
vessels, including many for Cunard’s parent Carnival Corporation. Originally
ordered as the fifth in a series of five 'Vista' class ships for sister company
Holland America, the contact was signed over to Cunard before the keel was laid
and Holland America then ordered a further ship for delivery in 2006.
