Customer Reviews

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it
I got this camera 3 weeks ago and think it is fabulous. I love Canon cameras, so a Powershot was a must for me. I spent awhile debating between the 870 and 880, but decided to go with the 870 because of some of the sketchy reviews the 880 was receiving, and I am so happy with me decision.

I went to a bachelorette party over the weekend, and the nighttime option worked wonderfully on all the pictures I took in bars. Several other girls were taking pictures, but mine turned out the clearest ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Canon SD870 IS
I really like the wide angle lens that this camera has. I would rate higher except that I am concerned that the lens is susceptible to sticking if it gets exposed to sand or grit. My previous SD800 IS died this death a little bit after the 1 year warranty lapsed (and I believe that the warranty did not cover this type of problem anyway). I also like the dedicated button to go to viewing mode. This is a definite improvement over the SD800 IS.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Cannon supershot camera
We took the camera on vacation two weeks ago. It took great pictures and was very easy to use and small enough to carry in my hand or hook on a belt. Delivery was faster than I thought it would be even though we paid nothing extra for shipping. I would definitely recommend this camera.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Canon's Customer Support Is Top Notch
Purchased the SD870 IS over a year ago (11NOV07) and it has performed better than expected. I also own the Canon EOS digital XT but the wife and I needed something compact to carry around. Since then the SD870 has become our primary camera.

On a different note, my 2 year-old was playing with SD870 and managed to jam lens. I submitted a repair request through Canon's website [...] and in less than 7 working days after I shipped camera to Canon my camera was back from the repair center in ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty Good, yup, Pretty Pretty Good
I've had this camera for 6 weeks or so now.

Overall I'm very happy with it. I like the wide angle.

It fits in my pocket easily.

I love the intervalometer (time lapse) movie setting.

The Image Stabilization (IS) works really well, much better than my previous camera.

Some of the other Canon SD IS family are cheaper (SD800) with a slightly smaller screen and no time lapse. I like the 870 but could have bought the 800 and probably been happy.

The on-board menus, entertainment and lecture program will be geared to British tastes and the currency will be sterling. Queen Victoria will fly the red ensign; she will have the name of her home port, Southampton, on her stern, and she will have a British Captain and Officers.   In design terms the cruise Cunard Queen Victoria will have an undeniably British feel with two British design teams being responsible for the interior of the Cunard Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria is being built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, near Venice, with her keel laid on July 12, 2003. One of the most technically advanced shipbuilders in the world, Fincantieri has built more than 7,000 vessels, including many for Cunard’s parent Carnival Corporation. Originally ordered as the fifth in a series of five 'Vista' class ships for sister company Holland America, the contact was signed over to Cunard before the keel was laid and Holland America then ordered a further ship for delivery  in 2006.   Enjoy a Cruise on Queen Victoria.  The lead ship in the series, Zuiderdam, entered service in December 2002.

No cruise schedules have yet been announced. Her float out is scheduled for May 2007, prior to her delivery in March 2008.She is scheduled to enter service in April 2008.
