Editorial Review:
Product Description: Keep your kitchen knives safely at hand with this Ginsu Bakelite Cutlery/Utensil Set. The set with storage block includes 6 steak knives, 6 kitchen knives (with twin serrated stainless steel blades that never need sharpening), and kitchen shears, all with polypropylene handles. Corrosion resistant. Dishwasher safe. Hand wash recommended. Makes a great starter set or gift. Imported.
Amazon.com Review: Many associate Ginsu knives with the product’s kitschy infomercial from the ‘70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu’s International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations.
This 14-piece set stocks a kitchen with most cutlery needs, and packs all knives in a contemporary black hardwood storage block. The set includes: an 8-inch chef’s knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch bread knife, a 5-inch boning knife, a 4-1/2-inch utility knife, a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, and six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, plus a pair of shears.
Ginsu blades are constructed from stainless steel and feature a two-dimensional serrated edge that is symmetrically cut on either side for more accurate slicing and for either right- or left-handed use. Edges are still as low-maintenance as ever and never require sharpening. The blades have full tangs that extend through lightweight bakelite handles and are triple-riveted for strength. Ginsu covers these International Traditions knives under a limited, lifetime warranty and recommends manual cleaning with hot, soapy water to keep them in top shape. --Cristina Vaamonde

I purchased this knife set after owning a faberware set (which was ok) for years. This Ginsu set is "EXCELLENT" and "ATTRACTIVE LOOKING"! These knives are nice and sharp and works well for someone who's looking for a reasonably priced, good cutley set. I would definitely recommend it.

This knife set is attractive in presentation but what is even more delightful is its reliability. the knives are sharp and makes food preparation stressless.
Its good value to cost.

Looks good, simple and knives are plenty sharp to get the job done. Scissors are great and for the price you really can't beat it! Sometimes the knives don't smoothly go back into their spots but a couple tries and they're in - no biggie. Nice and sharp and exactly what I was looking for!!!

These knives are terrific. I haven't found a thing that they don't slice right through! Even steak isn't a challenge for these knives! My husband always used to complain about our other set, but since getting these he hasn't complained once. The knives also cut through fruits and veggies without making a mess. I highly recommend these to anyone looking to buy a quality set of knives!

I was washing these and they cut clean through the bristled sponge I was using. I'm concerned about the longevity of the sharpness, but I'll review again in a few months after heavy use. So far they are great, look good and cut well!
