Radiohead's third album got compared to Pink Floyd a lot when it came out, and its slow drama and conceptual sweep certainly put it in that category. OK Computer, though, is a complicated and difficult record: an album about the way machines dehumanize people that's almost entirely un-electronic; an album by a British "new wave of new wave" band that rejects speed and hooks in favor of languorous texture and morose details; a sad and humanist record whose central moment is Thom Yorke crooning "We hope that you choke." Sluggish, understated, and hard to get a grip on, OK Computer takes a few listens to appreciate, but its entirety means more than any one song. --Douglas Wolk

I had not listened to this record in awhile and forgot how much I love this CD, it truly stand up after all this time and the accolades it has received is well worth it.
Radiohead are special - thoughtful songwriters who play well and create an atmosphere with the best of the bands such as Pink Floyd. They accomplish it here from the first track on. The first six tracks rank up there with any six tracks back to back in concept, though I would probably put some Beatles and Pink Floyd ... Read More

I looked at OK Computer for quite a long time before I finally bought it. Thank God that I did. This album is incredible. Every song would stand up well by itself and the album flows so well. When I heard it i was impressed but it didn't blow me away; as I kept listening to it I couldn't stop. Its is just a great group of songs right up there with Abbey Road, Dark Side of the Moon, Zeppelin IV, Moondance, Are You Experienced?, Blow by Blow, and any other "classic" album you can think of. I loved, LOVED!, "Bends". I played it so much in the late 90's, my friends got sick of it and told me to stop playing it. I fell out of society for a while, and here I am catching up, 10-12 years later (long story). So, I figured I'd catch up with Radiohead. I'm listening to "OK,Computer" as I write this, and, honestly, wtf? It's gotten such great reviews. What am I missing? Sorry, but it seems like a mediocre album to me, one or two good songs (I really like "Karma Police"), but nothing like "Bends" ... Read More

What can anyone say about OK Computer ten years after the fact that hasn't been said a thousand times already? Probably nothing, but heck - that's never stopped me before.
Discovering OK Computer back in 1998 was like waking up one morning to find a Triceratops lumbering around in your garden, munching lazily on your begonias and knocking shrubs over as if nothing was out of the ordinary: "Uh, mom?...Yeah, there's a dinosaur in the backyard...I know ma, I thought they were extinct too."

Don't let the 3 star rating fool you. I love Radiohead. In fact, I think a few songs on here are among my favorite of their whole discography.
However, I can't quite say the same over the majority of the album.
To me as more of a listener, I don't try exploring all the little nooks and crannies of albums a lot of times and, perhaps and probably, as a result, I really couldn't and still can't see the massive appeal this album brings. Is it junk? Hardly.

Cunard Line has announced that its new
85,000-ton cruise ship, which is scheduled to enter service in 2008, will be
named Queen Victoria. Based in Southampton, England, the Cunard Queen Victoria will be
the second largest Cunard Queen ever built. Together with the current flagship,
Queen Elizabeth 2, and Queen Mary 2, the biggest passenger liner ever, the
Cunard fleet will include three Queens for the first time – truly the most
famous ocean liners in the world.

Queen Victoria will enter service in the company’s 165th anniversary and will
operate cruises to and from Southampton to the Mediterranean, the Canaries,
Northern Europe, the Caribbean, and South America. The 1,968-passenger vessel
will feature a covered wraparound promenade deck, a forward-facing observation
lounge, a large Lido pool with a retractable magrodome, and 10 of the12
passenger decks will be served by exterior glass-walled lifts. Like QE2 and QM2,
the liner will have a Queens Grill, offering single-seating gourmet dining.
There will also be a unique Colonial Restaurant on Deck 11 with spectacular
panoramic views.
Queen Victoria cruises will offer a wide range of
accommodations, large standard outside cabins (170 square feet) and a high
percentage of balcony cabins (67%), thereby bringing new levels of luxury and
choice to passengers preferring to depart from a European port. Cruise

The on-board menus, entertainment and lecture program will be geared to British
tastes and the currency will be sterling. Queen Victoria will fly the red
ensign; she will have the name of her home port, Southampton, on her stern, and
she will have a British Captain and Officers.
In design terms the cruise Cunard Queen Victoria will have an undeniably British feel with two British design
teams being responsible for the interior of the Cunard Queen Victoria.
Queen Victoria is being built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, near
Venice, with her keel laid on July 12, 2003. One of the most technically
advanced shipbuilders in the world, Fincantieri has built more than 7,000
vessels, including many for Cunard’s parent Carnival Corporation. Originally
ordered as the fifth in a series of five 'Vista' class ships for sister company
Holland America, the contact was signed over to Cunard before the keel was laid
and Holland America then ordered a further ship for delivery in 2006.

lead ship in the series, Zuiderdam, entered service in December 2002.
No cruise schedules have yet been
announced. Her float out is scheduled for May 2007, prior to
