Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
You have a classic tale full of drama, passion, and adventure. A tale of universal archetypes that speak to everyone. A tale that has remained unfailingly popular for thousands of years. Why not spice it up with a wacky mechanical owl? Such was the thinking behind Clash of the Titans. Maggie Smith, Laurence Olivier, and Harry Hamlin (one of these things is not like the others...) star in a toga-ripper about a valiant hero, capricious immortals, and lots and lots of giant stop-action monsters. Perseus (Hamlin) is the favored son of the god Zeus (Olivier), but he has unwittingly ticked off the sea goddess Thetis (Smith). Just to make things worse, Perseus falls in love with the lovely Princess Andromeda, who used to be engaged to Thetis's son. Soon Perseus is off on one quest after another, with Zeus helping, Thetis hindering, and lots of innocent bystanders getting stabbed, drowned, and squished. Of course, the whole thing is just an excuse to show as much of Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion animation as possible, and good thing too. It's an old technique, but it still looks pretty darn cool, and it means the cast can just relax and do a bunch of reaction shots. Don't use this one to study for that big classical mythology exam, but if you just turn your brain off and enjoy the Kraken, it's pretty good fun. --Ali Davis

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Possibly the best action fantasy film of the 70's!!
GREAT MOVIE!!
Harryhausen is a genius, the movie is full of action, special effects, monsters, good acting and many exciting adventure sequences. Simbad (1958), Jason and the Argonauts and this one are the COOLEST action packed fantasy films by Harryhausen. I don't blame anyone if they don't like Harryhausen's animations because they look like clay, but they got to understand that theses animations opened the door to the special effects that we are used to now. I also love the movie Circle ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very entertaining, makes you remember to laugh!
This of course is an old movie but still a very entertaining one. The special effects were from when they first started creating them so they were a little cheesy but that is what makes it fun. From Zeus's humor to the talking gifts it keeps a smile on your face. I used this film to help my daughter learn some of the greek mythology terms and names of the Gods. She learned, we spent time together and we laughed. All was great!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Cult Classic Clash of the Titans
Wow!! To tell you the truth, this is one of my all time favorites! I am a cult movie fanatic. I was elated to find Clash of The Titans available for sale, I bought it instaneously! I counted the days until it arrived and I immediately popped it into my sponge bob DVD player to give it a whirl, I was taken back thirty years ago to the days when creating special effects was something people actually had to think hard about to create. I love this flick, especially when they release the Cracken!!! Timeless

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Clash of the Titans
I needed this movie fast because we were talking about Greek Mythology. I received this movie just in the nick of time! Great job!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic Movie, Great Special Effects And Imagination!
About every two years I watch this movie--it never ceases to be a delight. What great imaginations these writers have. Would love to have Hollywood do a sequel with Hamlin and Bowker parents of another adventurous child. You could have done many sequels with this movie--it was great. Someone in marketing at the studio needs to be fired--you could have made a lot of money making at least five sequels from this original--WAKE UP AND SMELL THE GRAVY TRAIN!!!
