Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Notorious as the first John Wayne film that does the unthinkable--subject Wayne's character to a nasty fate after only a short time--the 1972 Cowboys isn't much more interesting beyond that. The story finds Wayne playing a rancher who takes 11 boys on a cattle drive. They run into a nut case (Bruce Dern) who deprives the kids of their leader, and the rest of the film is a tale of revenge. Mark Rydell (Cinderella Liberty) directs an unexciting production, although performances by some of the younger actors such as A. Martinez and Robert Carradine are memorable. --Tom Keogh

One of my favorite John Wayne movies (with the Shootist, I must like him vulnerable lol.) His and the boys' growth together in knowledge & caring is the important story. Some objected to the ending, but "finishing the job" is important and the actions were no more violent than the times. The addition of Rosco Lee Brown was delightful and added a great deal to the film, more growth for the boys & even a bit for the main character. A proud and self-respecting, cultured Black man, in those ... Read More

This movie is one movie that most of us had forgotten about. So glad I purchased it. Once again, the man was a true cowboy to the root and this movie never let me down. I am so glad I bought it. Will never give it up and it will be a treasured DVD.

I loved this movie i have John Wayne movies frome back in the old days there are good.

John Wayne's late movie career was enhanced by this traditional yet shocking twist of a ending. His death at the hands of Bruce Dern's character Long Hair and fatherly sage to his cowhands (cow children) make this an appealing western. This movie only adds to his legacy.

This is one of John Wayne's best pictures. Roscoe Lee Brown is terrific in his part, and each of the young cowboys does a fine job. I have seen an anecdote that Bruce Dern had some trouble getting good parts after doing the thoroughly bad/mean villain in this movie. Well, he did play the part 110% and even a peaceful person like myself was real happy that he got his just desserts when his number came up.
Get this video quick. You're "burning daylight" if you wait...

Queen Victoria is being built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, near
Venice, with her keel laid on July 12, 2003. One of the most technically
advanced shipbuilders in the world, Fincantieri has built more than 7,000
vessels, including many for Cunard’s parent Carnival Corporation. Originally
ordered as the fifth in a series of five 'Vista' class ships for sister company
Holland America, the contact was signed over to Cunard before the keel was laid
and Holland America then ordered a further ship for delivery in 2006.

lead ship in the series, Zuiderdam, entered service in December 2002.
